Monuments of the Incas II
Eighteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN PRIDE starting on March 06, 2001 from Valparaiso in Chile.
Cruise the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Coquimbo, Iquique and Arica in Chile, Pisco and Callao in Peru, Guayaquil in Ecuador, transiting the Panama Canal, Calica in Mexico, returning in Fort Lauderdale.
Valparaiso is known as a source of inspiration for musicians, painters, and writers an poets. That is one of the reasons why the city is called "The City where lies the imagination". Valparaiso has many museums. Even the city itself is a museum where you can find paintings of renowned Chilean artists at the Open Air Museum.
Calica, a newly developed port on the Quintana Roe coast will grant you easy access to the dramatic seaside Mayan ruin of Tulum, perhaps the last city built by the Mayan civilization.
Tour the nearby capital of Lima to witness colonial architecture in city plazas and superb displays of pre-Colombian artefacts in the Gold Museum. Then visit the Larco Herrera Museum with its precious collections of Peruvian pottery.
Sample the fresh local seafood served in this popular South American resort of Coquimbo. Visit the Spanish colonial churches of nearby La Screna. Or travel through the lovely Elqui Valley to see the borne of poet Gabricla Mistral and the huge telescope at the Cerro Tololo Observatory.
Smaller and less busy than nearby Miami, Fort Lauderdale offers easy access to hotels, motorways and airports, which helps make getting to the ship more convenient.
Located on the coast south of Lima, Pisco originally prospered because of its nearby vineyards. The town eventually gave its name to Peru's Brandy which was later used as the most important ingredient of the world - famed "Pisco Sour".
This cruise is performed by SEABOURN CRUISES on board SEABOURN PRIDE running on the following dates during year 2001.
