Riviera, Iberia and M orocco
Fourteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN PRIDE starting on May 11, 2001 from Barcelona in Spain.
Cruise the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea, Cannes and St. Tropez in France, Menorca in Balearic Islands, Altea, Motril, Malaga and Seville in Spain, Ceuta in Spanish North Africa, Gibraltar, Casablanca in Morocco, returning in Lisbon, Portugal.
Glimpse Barcelona's remarkable architecture as you tour the city. Or experience Monsterrat, legendary home of the Knights of the Holy Grall. There's also a host of art galleries, museums and elegant shops to explore.
The fabled international film festival keeps Cannes, this French Riviera port in the limelight. Artist's havens like St. Paul de Vence and a number of the world's best collections of modern art are all accessible on fascinating tours. The perfumeries and wineries of Provence are also within easy reach.
St. Tropez is perhaps the most fashionable resort on the French Riviera. Enjoy splendid Cote d'Azur scenery on a drive to picturesque Grimaud village.
Menorca is an island of green pastures and whitewashed villages. Prehistoric sites abound on this lush island and a half-day excursion highlights the unusual flora and fauna.
Altea is a pristine whitewashed town overlooking the Mediterranean. Climb the narrow, stepped stone streets to the central plaza's sea-view cafes shaded by the cobalt dome of the village church.
Malaga, the centre of the fashionable Costa del Sol invites you to play on sun-swept beaches or explore picturesque towns from Torremolinos to Mijas. Visit Granada, and ascend the Sierra Nevada, through orchards of almonds and olives, en route to the Alhambra's Moorish splendours.
Navigate the Guadalquivir River to reach the very heart of Seville. Visit the oldest wine cellars in Spain or the Moorish Alcazar.
Next but not last port is Ceuta, a Spanish touch on the Moroccan area.Spain maintains this tiny slice of the African coast as its own. A day-trip across the border brings you to Tetouan, a picturesque Moroccan town.
When you first see the Rock of Gibraltar, whether it is from the air, from the sea or from either the Costa del Sol or the western end of the Bay, it is its impressive stature, towering isolated above the surrounding countryside, that causes the greatest impact. It has had this effect on people for many thousands of years. Gibraltar is a beacon which signals the position of the Strait of Gibraltar, the narrow neck which separates Europe from Africa and provides the only link between the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
Casablanca, Africa's second largest city, retains the romantic air of its namesake film. Enjoy the atmosphere of the Ain Daib area with its wonderful beachfront cafes and restaurants, and explore the Medina, the original Arab Quarter.
Lisbon is a masterpiece of classical architecture, with its tree-lined boulevards and pastel buildings. Visit Jeronimos Monastery in the old quarter of Belem, and enjoy browsing the city's chic shopping district.
