Arabia and the Red Sea Reefs
Sixteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN SPIRIT starting on March 14, 2001 from Dubai.
Cruise the Arabian Sea, the Gulf of Aden and the Gulf of Aqaba, transiting the Suez Canal, Salalah, returning in Singapore.
Scarcely 100 years old, the capital is home to two-thirds of the nation's population. Central Djibouti is laid out on a grid and is compact enough to explore in an afternoon. It sits on the western shore of an isthmus in the Gulf of Tadjoura, overlooking a small marina where dhows, fishing skiffs and pleasure boats are moored. The Central Market (Le Marche Central) just south of the centre of town is worth seeing, in particular for its fresh sprigs of qat, a mild stimulant flown in daily from Ethiopia.
One of the seven United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a place of remarkable contrasts. A modern city set against endless desert sands, here east meets west in the city of merchants. Today this friendly city attracts growing numbers of visitors seeking the simple pleasures of cloudless skies, superb sports, shopping, dining and entertainment-far away from crowds.
Cross the Eastern Desert from this Red Sea port to the Nile and ancient Thebes. A wealth of monuments awaits you on this overnight excursion. The painted tombs of the Pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings and the sprawling temples of Luxor and El Karnak will leave you in awe.
At the south tip of Sinai, 303 miles from Cairo is Sharm el Sheikh, which has lovely beaches and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the world. Less than a decade ago, the drive would not have been possible, and until 1986, it would have taken a full day. Now the drive from Cairo takes only five hours over excellent highways all the way.
This cruise is performed by SEABOURN CRUISES on board SEABOURN SPIRIT running on the following dates during year 2001.
