Vietnam and Thailand II
Fourteen day cruise aboard the SEABOURN SPIRIT starting on December 08, 2001 from Singapore.
Cruise the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, Ang Thong Marine Park and Bangkok in Thailand, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Haaiphong in Vietnam, returning in Hong Kong.
The island of Singapore is one of Asia's most dynamic nations, a model for blending diverse cultures into a unified whole. Malay, Chinese, Indian and European groups celebrate their heritage, but also take great pride in their contribution to the country's success. It is worth a stay before or after your cruise.
A pair of oddly shaped islands off Thailand's coast provides a perfect spot to enjoy the ship's marina. Laze on a nearby beach in Ang Thong Marine Park that's as soft and white as powdered sugar. Warm sea, bright sun and waving coco palms celebrate the best of tropical Asia.Bangkok captivates with contrast. Explore the city's ancient klongs, or canals, and the modern Thai spirit is revealed. Tour the grounds of the Royal Palace and you are back in the kingdom of Siam. Our extended call allows you to journey overnight to Chiang Mai, and experience more of Thailand's colourful history, costumes, architecture and cuisine.
Ho Chi Minh City is a feast for the senses. Take in the spacious boulevards lined with French Colonial buildings, the teeming streets of Chinatown and the landmark Presidential Palace. Beyond the city lie the Cu Chi Tunnels, where you may enter a part of these underground escape routes that once stretched for 125 miles.
Visit the ancient capital of Hue beyond the Marble Mountains. Or nearby Hoi An, which preserves colourful buildings from the 16th century onward in picturesque riverbank streets. You're sure to lose your heart to the children you will visit in the village school and the family of farmers in the countryside at Da Nang.
An optional excursion through the stunning landscape of the Red River Delta from the port of Haiphong or Hon Gai takes you to the Vietnamese capital of Hanoi. Visit the One Pillared Pagoda, the Temple of Literature and the History Museum, Lush parks and beautiful wooded lakes lend a delightfully civilized air to the city.
