During the late 1800's and the early 1900's (the era of Cretan Democracy) it was used as the Embassy building of the British and it played a very important role in the Cretan history. In the year 1990 a new 42 room wing was carefully constructed so that the magnificence of the old structure could be maintained unaltered and its last renovation was in 2005. Halepa Hotel consists of a VIP suite and 5 superior rooms in the traditional building and 2 small suites with 41 guestrooms, in the new wing.
