Staying at PORTO ELOUNDA is a delight of traditional Cretan architecture and interior design. Unique waterfront bungalows with their own sandy beach offer the chance for a swim at any time of the day or night. Their spacious and secluded verandahs are fitted with lovely furniture and sun decks.

The Club House with pro - shop, set amidst a picturesque Cretan square, caters to your golfing whims.

At Playiada square you will also find a boutique, a jewellery shop, souvenir shop, news stand and a Greek orthodox chapel dedicated to the Prophet Elias. One of the a la carte restaurants of the hotel is located on this Cretan square.

Water skiing is at its best in the early morning, when even avid mono skiers and barefoot skiers are towed by the "Ski Nautique" Correct Craft.

As the wind picks up, sailors and wind surfers set out to harness the waves, while snorkellers and S.C.U.B.A. divers find the rocky sea bed bustling with colourful life.

The magnificent "Playiada" at the Porto Elounda de lux Resort, a covered square near the beach, lends a magical aura to the a la carte restaurant situated there.

Coming back from the ninth green, golfers seek refreshment at the "Pool Bar" next to the sandy beach.

When at Porto Elounda, you are invited to dine at the restaurants of sister hotel Elounda Mare. The menus at the scenic "Yacht Club" and the more intimate "Old Mill" restaurant, combined with the family's wine making tradition, have won Elounda sole Greek membership of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux chain.

Accommodation ranges from rooms in the swimming pool clad main building, to villas with private swimming pools and gardens, to bungalows on the sea shore with a private beach.

The main building is constructed in terraced levels and comprises 102 rooms and 8 suites. All the rooms face the sea and have a verandah with plants. Five swimming pools which run along the main building allow direct access to guests occupying rooms on the pool level.

The public areas are decorated with antique and contemporary furniture and rugs. There are lounges in various levels and a card room.

The villas with private pools have one, two or three bedrooms, each with its own wardrobe and en suite bathroom. In each villa there is a living room with an open fire place and dining area. All rooms face the sea, have individual air conditioning units and direct access to a 100 m² private garden with a 45 m² sea water swimming pool.

The 50 m² large water front bungalows are built on two levels: an upper level with the bedroom, wardrobe and bathroom and a lower level with the sitting area and oblong verandah. Steps of local rock lead directly to the sea.

All accommodation is spacious and decorated in simple but tasteful local style. Modern amenities such as marble bathroom with telephone and music, mini bar refrigerator, air conditioning, direct dial telephone, colour satellite TV, in house music and hair dryer are all included. Garden furniture such as sunshades, deck chairs and coffee tables complete the home like atmosphere.

At the sea sports department of Porto Elounda, wind surfing and sailing, jet ski, canoes, pedaloes as well as paragliding are available. All equipment is top of the line and the atmosphere is relaxed and sporty.

Apart from the Golf Course and the Sea Sports, there is one tennis court. By the beach there is a 250 m² swimming pool as well as a 60 m² children's pool. A playground is also there for the younger guests.

For those winter days when the weather is not ideal for outdoor sports, Porto Elounda now has a fitness gymnasium incorporated into the "Thermais" indoor spa.
