The fascinating Ajman museum was opened in 1981 in an old 18 century fort and served as the Ruler's Palace and office until 1970's when it became the main police station.
Located in the town center, the museum houses an interesting archaeological collection of artefacts and manuscripts, old weapons and reconstruction of traditional life.
The Mowaihal Archaeological site was discovered in 1986 when municipality workers un earthed a Umm-al-Nar type tomb. Subsequent finds have included painted ceramics vessels, two stamp seals, a number of copper implements and some skeletal remains. Many of the Mowaihal site findings are displayed in the Ajman museum.
